Extreme STEAM Science Kids at Park Shore Launches Proprietary Robotics Program & Curriculum at The Pigeon Key Foundation & Marine Science Center in the Florida Keys
Extreme STEAM Science Kids is proud to announce that it is entering into a collaborative agreement with The Pigeon Key Foundation & Marine Science Center in the Florida Keys. Extreme STEAM Science Kids will be imparting its vast, exclusive and proprietary curriculum and training in Robotics to enhance the education of the students at The Pigeon Key Foundation. Over 1000 student groups visit The Pigeon Key Foundation from the United States and from around the world and will benefit from this amazing collaboration. Extreme STEAM Science Kids’ Robotics Program will give these students technological skills to be applied in the marine environment and will add a new dimension to Pigeon Key’s world renowned program.
Extreme STEAM Science Kids has adapted its robotics curriculum to create a model approach to the understanding of robotics in the 21st Century. Students at The Pigeon Key Foundation will be introduced to Robotics and the impact it will have on their future. Students will program their own robots to handle a variety of challenges that can be adapted to the marine environment.
Park Shore’s Extreme STEAM Science Kids’ Director, Julian Aptowitz, author and co-creator of our Robotics Program, will be on Pigeon Key to train the staff and launch their first Robotics Program. Moving forward, Extreme STEAM Science Kids at Park Shore will continue to support the staff and keep this program on the cutting edge.
The Pigeon Key Foundation offers a variety of marine programs, giving its students a solid and multi-faceted understanding of the marine world around them. They provide housing for the staff and students where they live on the island and experience the splendor of the cultural and natural resources of the Florida Keys. The Pigeon Key Foundation has transformed the island and its buildings into a world class educational center. Extreme STEAM Science Kids at Park Shore is very proud and honored to have been chosen to partner with such a prestigious organization.
Director Julian Aptowitz brings his 23 years of experience as a physics teacher and robotics mentor to the guiding of all the curriculum at Extreme STEAM Science Kids and for The Robotics Program at The Pigeon Key Foundation. Mr. Aptowitz founded the FIRST robotics team at Half Hollow Hills CSD, coached the Park Shore FIRST Lego League team to win the Regional Award in Engineering Innovation for Suffolk County, and has presented at the Suffolk ASSET conference (Association of Suffolk Superintendents in Educational Technology). Mr. Aptowitz holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, a Master’s degree from SUNY Stony Brook, and a Master’s in Educational Technology from C.W. Post/LIU.
Extreme STEAM Science Kids at Park Shore and the collaboration with the Pigeon Key Foundation are the brain-child of Bob Budah, Co-Owner and Director of Park Shore. Extreme STEAM Science Kids is entering its 3rd year and is the leader in STEAM education for elementary school children on Long Island. This year will boast the opening of Park Shore’s state-of-the-art STEAM Science Center featuring Ipads, Einstein Tablets, marine touch tank, aquariums with fish and reptiles, computer labs, and education in robotics, programming, engineering, life science, physical science, coding, mathematics, and the arts. Extreme STEAM Science Kids’ goal is to provide progressive STEAM education for the youth on Long Island and we are very excited to be able to bring a major facet of our program to the students at The Pigeon Key Foundation.
