Explorers 2019: Weeks 3 & 4

The Explorers have had a great start to the summer!!  We have made many memories on our adventures so far!! Jim, Taneisha, Elwin, Morgan, Lexi and I are all looking forward to the next two weeks which are sure to bring more fun and excitement.  

 

Monday, July 15- 

Wild Play at Jones Beach

REGULAR TRANSPORTATION 

All new Explorers must take the deep water test** Campers can take regular transportation to camp**  Please bring an extra bathing suit. **

We will enjoy an exciting day at Long Island’s newest attraction, Wild Play at Jones Beach.  We will take on the classic course as campers climb through obstacles and encounter all the thrills the course has to offer. Campers should dress for an athletic day.  We will enjoy a picnic lunch.

Tuesday, July 16

Six Flags Great Adventure

PARENT DROP OFF & PICK UP  

Please arrive at 7:00 a.m. wearing your travel shirt for an early departure We will eat lunch in the park and dinner on the road at Charlie Browns.  We plan to arrive back at Park Shore by 8:30 p.m. Parents, please call the camp office one hour before to confirm a more specific arrival time.  

 

Wednesday, July 17 

Sports Arena

REGULAR TRANSPORTATION

The Explorers are headed to the Sports Arena in Smithtown.  We will spend the day participating in a variety of activities that promote teamwork and sportsmanship. Campers must wear sneakers to camp today!  After working up a sweat we will head to lunch at The Green Turtle.    

 

Thursday, July 18

Scavenger Hunt- Grand Central Station

PARENT PICK UP  

We will enjoy lunch in the city at Planet Hollywood.    We are due to arrive back at Park Shore at 5:30. You may call the camp office one hour before to confirm our arrival time.  Campers must wear their travel shirts today.  

 

Friday, July 19

Nissequogue River- Canoeing

REGULAR TRANSPORTATION

We are off for a fun filled day on the Nissequogue River.  We will spend our morning Canoeing before stopping for lunch at Landing Avenue Park.  We will then continue our trip along the river. Please wear your bathing suit to camp and bring a change of clothes along with a towel and sunblock.  All campers must wear old sneakers or sandals while canoeing. No Flip flops or crocks! You may bring them for afterwards.  

 

Monday, July 22

Smith Point Beach

REGULAR TRANSPORTATION

All new Explorers must take the deep water test** Campers can take regular transportation to camp**  Please bring an extra bathing suit. **

Today we will head to Smith Point Beach.  Please wear your bathing suit (and flip-flops) to camp and bring a towel, sunscreen, and change of clothes.  We will enjoy a picnic lunch.

Great Wolf Lodge

PARENT DROP OFF & PICK UP  

Our 2nd overnight will be to the Pocono’s indoor water park resort, Great Wolf Lodge, in Pennsylvania.  Please arrive at camp wearing your bathing suit and travel shirt. You will need to bring two additional bathing suits, casual clothes for two days, and personal toiletries.   Campers must arrive to camp by 7:45 on Tuesday for our departure. We plan to arrive back at camp by 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Parents, please call one hour before to confirm.

 

Thursday, July 25

Medieval Times

REGULAR TRANSPORTATION

Today we are headed to Medieval Times in New Jersey.  Campers will enjoy the lunch show as they cheer on the Knights in battle.  

 

Friday, July 26

Flight, Fit, and Fun

REGULAR TRANSPORTATION

Today we will spend the morning jumping and playing dodgeball before enjoying lunch at Zaza in Commack.
