This week the Extreme STEAM Science campers learned all about how their trash can be separated into landfill, recycle, reuse…and composting! We searched in the dirt for critters to help jump start our own compost bin. Rolly pollys, earthworms, slugs, ants, millipedes and all fun dirt loving insects were amongst the many we added to our food scraps and paper we have thrown away in class!
This ever evolving ecosystem will grow with us through the weeks, and we will be testing the rate of biodegradable trash as we go! We are getting to know (and feed) our cave friends as well!
